July Currently!

listening: I have a problem! Every summer I promise myself that I will NOT become addicted to Big Brother and every year it just happens! ;) I have been a BB fan since it first aired 16 years ago. It is my favorite reality TV show and it consumes my summer I guess it’s a good thing I am a teacher and have summers off. The last few years I have become even more obsessed with BB and have subscribed to the live feeds which allows you to see the players in the house even when the show is not on. Like I said before this is a serious problem, but I guess it could be worse! At least with the live feeds I can have them on my computer screen and still get some work done!

loving: I am loving having 3 days off. I’m currently teaching summer school and we started the week after the normal school year ended so it’s nice to have a mini summer break in the middle of summer school, even if it’s only for 3 days.

thinking: Even with having these last 3 wonderful days off, I have still managed to wait until the last minute to get everything prepped and ready for next week. Although it is nice only teaching one subject during summer school the curriculum we were given isn’t appropriate for the students in my class. Luckily for me I have found some amazing units on TPT that will work perfectly. Now to finish cutting and laminating

wanting: Really not much more to say. Even though I am really enjoying teaching summer school and being back with the littles again {more on that later}  I do {love} and miss having the entire summer off, but I’m sure that feeling will fade once I get my summer school paycheck! J

needing: Seriously!!! I LOVE printing and finding awesome teacher resources but all the cutting and laminating and cutting again gets old, FAST!

4th plans: This year I had no plans for the 4th and it was glorious! It was nice to be able to relax at home and try my best to keep my puggle calm, while my crazy neighbors shoot off fireworks until the wee hours of the morning.

Anyways that’s my July Currently! It has been a blast sharing with ya’ll and hopefully I can keep up this time around with blogging Hope your 4th was fun and safe!

My First Post

WOW. Is this really happening right now? I guess it’s official this is my 1st post on my blog HOLY COW!!!

Let me start off by introducing myself a little bit... I am a kindergarten teacher here in Seattle, Wa this will be my 2nd year in Kinder, but my 6th year teaching. I love what I do and wouldn’t want any other job! Seriously!!! No other job, I have heard a lot of other bloggers say that teaching is not only their job, but their hobby and I totally understand that sentiment. I wish I could say I’m as crafty and creative as the rest of my bloggy friends, but I’m NOT!!! I have come to accept that because I am great at re-creating all of your wonderful ideas and sometimes creating my own {wacky} ideas along the way. As it stands right now I have nothing to lose with this little blog thing right here as I have no followers so I might as well go for it, right?!?

Well I wish I had something more to tell all of you, I don’t at least not right now anyways, but what I do have is a giveaway for making you at least have to skim through my crazy 1st attempt at blog writing. Are you just on the edge of your seat waiting to know what the giveaway is??? Well you can be the proud new owner of... “Kindergarten Common Core Standards” both Literacy and Mathematics are included. Basically, all I did was re-type only the kindergarten standards so that it would be easy for me to access while I planned. My wonderful state/district has not said anything formally to us about using these standards I just find them to be helpful as our state standards are very “general” and being new to kindergarten coming from 3rd/4th grade I needed/wanted a little more direction!

I hope you enjoy, please leave any questions or comments you have, as I will read them and respond!!! Thanks!

Although, I pretend to loathe my nickname “Burkie” that my mentor teacher/colleague gave me I deep down kinda like it, but let’s just keep that between you and me! :-)
